![]() Some of the conversation appeared in the recording "Jean Cocteau: A Self-Portrait, A Conversation with William Fifield in French" ("Jean Cocteau: Un autoportrait, une conversation avec William Fifield en français"). The interview took place a year before Cocteau's death. At the end of the foreword (written in French; see below), my father writes: "It is our fourth or fifth conversation, and the next to the last. I remain with a kind of impression that he had wanted to give me a sort of verbal testament; he had had warnings and he had premonitions. He showed himself very affectionate, very easily moved."
